Ambrosiana Auction House organizes twice a year auctions and sales dedicated to modern and contemporary art. The sector, in strong expansion in the last decade, keeps surprising for the dynamicity and the global extension.
Ambrosiana Auction House plans vente aux enchères since 2009, thanks to the passion of the department’s founder Andrea Poleschi, who gained experience in the renowned gallery Poleschi Arte (Lucca – Forte dei Marmi – Milan). The latter one was founded in 1977 and it was a leader in the Italian art market, taking part to the artistic and cultural context of the second half of 1900s.
The department has registered a remarkable growth, thanks to the long experience of Andrea Poleschi and the Head of Department Francesca Benetta Colombo, expert in modern and contemporary art.
Modern and contemporary art auction catalogues present selected masterpieces of the most important Italian and international artists, belonging to the 1900s and the 2000s. The spring and the autumn auctions are characterized by a succession of works realized by Pablo Picasso and Joan Mirò, Andy Warhol and Keith Haring, Victor Vasarely, Sonia Delaunay and Yaacov Agam, Lucio Fontana and Piero Manzoni, Alighiero Boetti, Vincenzo Agnetti and Emilio Isgrò, Giorgio De Chirico, Alberto Savinio and Filippo de Pisis, Umberto Boccioni, Giacomo Balla and Fortunato Depero, Giorgio Morandi and Carlo Carrà, Giuseppe Santomaso, Tancredi Parmeggiani and Emilio Vedova, Hans Hartung, Georges Mathieu and Gérard Schneider, Enrico Baj, Gianni Dova and Roberto Crippa, Peter Halley and Donald Baechler, Wifredo Lam, Sebastián Matta and Valerio Adami, which come from important Italian private collections. The artworks, selected by our experts, stand out for the excellent quality, which identifies our department.
The department’s experts offer a free evaluation for the artworks and they are always available to help the collectors during the selling process, from the estimation to the entrusting of the work (with the possibility to collect the goods directly at client’s domicile), from the conservation to the archiving, until the sale. Among the most important sales, we remark the canvas of Shozo Shimamoto sold for € 35.000,00, the masterpiece Uomo contro due animali n. 9 signed by Enrico Baj sold for € 62.500,00, the famous gouache on blackboard of Alberto Magnelli sold for € 30.000,00 and the tapestry of Alighiero Boetti Attirare l’attenzione, disputed between China, USA and England, sold for € 47.500,00. We must mention the incredible results achieved by Hans Hartung, sold for € 68.970,00, and by Agostino Bonalumi with his Giallo sold for € 72.600,00.
